Exciting News!

Introducing FibroScan: Advanced Management for Fatty Liver Disease

We are excited to announce that our practice now offers FibroScan, the latest in non-invasive technology to accurately assess liver health, including the quantification of fat and scar tissue in the liver. This is a crucial tool in the management of Metabolic Associated Fatty Liver Disease (MAFLD), formerly known as Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD).

Fatty liver disease is now the leading cause of cirrhosis in the USA. Early detection and proper management are key to preventing progression to cirrhosis and other serious complications.

Introducing WATS3D: A Breakthrough in Detecting Barrett’s Esophagus and Early Signs of Esophageal Cancer in Patients with Chronic Acid Reflux

We are pleased to offer WATS3D, a new, advanced test approved by the FDA that significantly improves the detection of Barrett’s esophagus and early signs of esophageal cancer in people with chronic acid reflux (GERD).

Why WATS3D is Better:

  • Thorough Testing: WATS3D uses a special brush to gently collect a sample of cells from the entire area of the esophagus affected by acid reflux, covering a much larger area than traditional biopsy methods.

  • Cutting-Edge Analysis: The sample is examined with advanced 3D technology, which has been shown to detect abnormal cells up to 4 times more effectively than older techniques.

Colon Cancer Screening Starts at 45 or earlier.

Have you been screened?

American Cancer Society's new guidelines recommend that colorectal cancer screenings begin at age 45 for average-risk patients. Those who have a family history of colon polyps or colon cancer should start screening much earlier due to a higher risk of colon cancer. With regular screening, colon cancer can be found early, when treatment is most effective.

Our Mission

Gastro East is committed to providing high quality and accessible healthcare to the people and communities of greater Eastern North Carolina whom we humbly serve. Our goal is to continue to be the premier regional center for all the gastrointestinal needs of our patients while simultaneously and seamlessly providing support services to our referring network of primary care physicians. We adapt to the constantly changing landscape of healthcare by upholding our values of patient-centered quality care and continue to empower our team to achieve their maximum professional and personal potential while standing by our tenet of providing care to those in need.

What is AAAHC Accreditation?

GastroEast has achieved accreditation by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). Accreditation distinguishes us from many other outpatient facilities by providing the highest quality of care to its patients as determined by an independent, external process of evaluation. Status as an accredited organization means GastroEast has both met nationally recognized standards for the provision of quality health care set by AAAHC. More than 5,000 ambulatory health care organizations across the United States are accredited by AAAHC. Not all ambulatory health care organizations seek accreditation; not all that undergo the rigorous on-site survey process are granted accreditation.

Reasons why our patients continue to choose us for their digestive health:

  • Same day or next day availability

  • We are in network with most insurances

  • On-site CT Scanner

  • On-site Pathologist
